Oceanspray Family Center All volunteers are screened for program suitability and must pass a criminal background check. Positions listed below are volunteer, without any compensation or benefit package. Volunteers must be willing to follow all policies and procedures associated with the operation of Oceanspray Family Center and the rules associated with the specific volunteer opportunity.
 

Reading Buddy


A caring adult to mentor a young person in supervised setting one-hour a week during the school year. The position requires attendance from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM one day a week with willingness to rearranged personal schedules accordingly. The volunteer Readying Buddy must be consistent, courteous, willing to share life experiences and be a very good listener.

Every Reading Buddy volunteer must complete a two-hour training and pass a criminal background check. Volunteers will be selected based on interests, experience and finding the student match. A rewarding experience for both participants guaranteed!

Reading Buddy Coordinator


Are you organized and reliable? The Reading Buddy Coordinator must fill-in as a Readying Buddy on occasion, be available to direct activities if needed, organize events and oversee the one-on-one supervised setting for Reading Buddies. Training and passing a criminal background check is required.

Classroom Assistant


Like working with young people? We have a great opportunity for you as a classroom assistant. Instructors prepare lesson plans with activities for the Discovery program and seek adults to help with art projects, class organization, and field trips. If you have patience and a good sense of humor, this position may just suit you. The classroom assistant must pass a criminal background check.
